The skin is the largest organ of the body and serves a variety of functions. As the canvas for eyebrow tattooing, understanding the skin and the function of each layer is essential for the permanent cosmetic technician.
The skin strata are divided into 3 layers. In descending order, they are:
Epidermis
The outermost layer of dead skin cells which are visible to the naked eye. It varies in thickness throughout the body and functions as a protective barrier that interfaces with the external environment and its pathogens.
